DISCUSSION - 'NEW HORIZONS IN THE FIELD OF TIDAL HYDRAULICS' BY CLARENCE F. WICKER,

Abstract

The author gives a good review of the problems associated with improvements of tidal waterways. His conclusions about necessary additional research are very logically drawn from his presentation of the state of knowledge in various areas. However, this writer sees a different approach to determining research needs, which is the basis for this discussion. From this discussion it will be clear that new horizons in the field of tidal hydraulics will mean expanded application of techniques successfully used in other fields of engineering, science, and government, such as systems analyses, operations research, and digital simulation.
