DESIGN AND EVALUATION OF A HIGH TEMPERATURE RADIAL TURBINE.

Abstract

Detail design of hot turbine was concluded. Casting development and fabrication of hot turbine consisted primarily of tooling procurement for the turbine nozzles and rotors. The contractor-furnished castings are being finish-machined. The combustor test portion of the hot tests was initiated with Builds 1, 2, 3 and 4 being tested. Results showed unacceptable temperature distributions and a persistent coking problem. At the end of the report period, four rig/facility modifications were being implemented to improve the coking situation, which would then allow efforts to be directed toward improving the temperature pattern.
