Abstract

The report is a step-by-step guide for office secretaries, filing clerks and office supervisors to help them in adapting the principles of coordinate indexing to non-computerized office filing routines. The guide includes general explanation of the coordinate indexing principle, shows how to prepare documents for filing and demonstrates how to retrieve documents from files. It also explains how to construct the retrieval Word-Lists (thesaurus) and how to use the different retrieval tools, such as 5x8 Uniterm Card, IBM Port-a-Punch and Termatrec. (Author)
