AN AUTOMATED METHOD FOR CHOLINESTERASE MEASUREMENTS IN THE RHESUS MONKEY.

Abstract

This report describes optimum conditions for the automated thiocholine measurement of cholinesterase in samples of whole blood, plasma, and RBC's from rhesus monkeys. The technique is rapid, sensitive, highly reproducible, directly measures a product of ChE action, and requires a small sample for assay. The effects of substrate concentration of ChE activity, and the effects of hemolysis on RBC ChE activity have been studied. A technique for the microdetermination of RBC ChE has also been developed.
