AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE UNSTEADY FORCES CAUSING VORTEX-EXCITED OSCILLATIONS OF A CIRCULAR CYLINDER.

Abstract

The amplitude and frequency of a circular cylinder undergoing vortex-excited oscillations are measured and presented. From this the oscillating exciting forces and lift coefficients are calculated. The lift coefficient and oscillating frequency are non-dimensionalized in terms of equivalent data for a stationary cylinder and plotted. This is compared to other data. (Author)
