A SIMPLIFIED TIME DEPENDENT OXYGEN-HYDROGEN ATMOSPHERE MODEL WITH VERTICAL EDDY DIFFUSION.
Abstract
A time dependent oxygen-hydrogen atmosphere model with constant (average) values for the dissociation rates is computed. For atomic oxygen a peak value of 7x10 to the 11th power is obtained for the number density at 85 km. Below this level water vapor and molecular hydrogen are the most important hydrogen components. In spite of the limitations caused by the unrealistic discontinuities in the dissociation at sunrise, the model gives some qualitative information about the time variation of OH*-emission after sunrise and after sunset.
