THE REACTION OF A RIGID BODY TO A UNIFORM FORCE FIELD.

Abstract

The paper describes a method for determining the forces of reaction of a stationary, rigid body to a uniform, external, force field. The forces produces rotation. The results of the paper are applicable to general Newtonian force fields including electromagnetic and gravitational fields. Typically, the method can be used to determine the torque on a satellite from the earth's magnetic field. (Author)
