A COMPUTER PROGRAM TO EFFECT COMPUTER NETWORK TWO-WAY DATA TRANSMISSION ON A SINGLE SATELLITE CHANNEL.

Abstract

A seven level encoder was breadboarded. A computer program was created to simulate the modem being breadboarded. The report gives a program (computer) that successfully simulates a 9600 bit/sec data rate being carried, encoded, on a 2400 cps channel. CDC 7000 series computers have sufficient speed to make the use of this program economically feasible indefinitely. IBM-360-50 have a crosover of about 421 computer core dumps before the modem use becomes more feasible. (Author)
