FURTHER STUDIES OF STATISTICAL METEOROLOGY. II.

Abstract

Chapter 1 gives, in addition to general information about administration, travels, etc., a brief report on the influence of grouping in conditional distributions under binormal conditions. Chapter 2 presents some periodic time series models, to be later applied to meteorological variables. Chapter 3 gives a preliminary report on the spectrum analysis of air temperatures from a network of Norwegian meteorological stations. Chapter 4 deals with the frequency of the West Norwegian weather types (introduced by Johansen) and their application as discriminant functions for meteorological variables. Chapter 5 discusses the statistical weather types, their transition properties and application as discriminant functions. Comparisons are made with H. Johansen's weather types and the type introduced by Hess and Brezowsky for Central Europe. (Author)
