PROCESSING OF DATA FROM SONAR SYSTEMS, SUMMARY OF WORK PERFORMED.

Abstract

A summary is given of analytical studies concerned with sonar signal processing. Both active and passive sonar problems were considered, although the major effect concentrated on passive sonar. The early emphasis was on detection. Current work in passive sonar is evenly divided between a continuing program studying detection problems and recently initiated studies dealing with bearing estimation topics. Problems which have been considered and general results obtained are outlined and briefly discussed. (Author)
