CONSOLE CONTROL UNIT.

Abstract

This final technical report describes the Console Control Unit (CCU) developed for the Strategic Air Command Program Assisted Console Evaluation and Review (SAC/PACER) system. The CCU was developed for the purpose of interfacing from one to eight SAC/PACER display consoles--BR-90E with the external user system of the GE-635 data processing system. Connection is made at one of the super high-speed terminals of the input/output controller (IOC), Model C. The CCU meets specifications defining the standard interface used between any common peripheral subsystem and the external user system of the GE-635. The CCU functions as data translator between the 6-bit (plus parity) character of the GE-635 and the 12-bit word of the BR-90E, responds to all signals from the external user system, and generates meaningful signals for interpretation by the GE-635. The SAC/PACER system is now fully implemented and operationally successful. (Author)
