TELEVISION AND GHETTO EDUCATION: THE CHICAGO SCHOOLS APPROACH,

Abstract

Over the last decade or two, educators have been slowly discovering the uses to which the television medium may be directed in the instructional process. The most significant application of television to ghetto schools has been made by the Chicago public schools. Although district-wide educational programming was in use, several ghetto schools ethnically similar and geographically close felt that this programming was not as relevant to their needs as they deemed desirable. By joining together they could pool resources in order to create programs very much related to the needs of their students. (Author)
