Abstract

Beginning with a chronological history of space exploration, covering the period 1957-66, in both the Soviet Union and USA, the author turns to a discussion of the mechanics of space flight. This section is followed by one on the philosophical aspects and social impact of space research. The final segment of the work is a biographical sketch of a Russian-Soviet engineer-educator-scientist.
