1962-1968 MONTHLY SURFACE HEMISPHERIC MEANS STANDARD DEVIATIONS, AND DIURNAL VARIATIONS.

Abstract

Surface pressure analyses on a hemispheric basis have been produced at the Fleet Numerical Weather Central (formerly FNWF) since 1961. These archived analyses, in gridded format on magnetic tape, provide a sample size sufficient to produce useful long term monthly means, standard deviations, and diurnal variations. The method of computation is described, and plotted maps of the monthly mean and standard deviation are presented. The methodology is similar to that used to compute the 500 mb monthly mean maps at FNWC. (Author)
