A DIRECT MEASUREMENT OF PARTICLE-HOLE IMPURITIES IN THE GROUND STATE OF 16O,

Abstract

The pickup reactions 16O(d,t)15O and 15O(d,3He)15N were investigated at a deuteron energy of 20 MeV to allow a direct measurement of the two-particle two-hole admixtures in the ground state wave function of 16O. The results give good evidence for the existence of such pair excitations with intensities comparable to those predicted by Brown and Green. (Author)
