THE WATER TEMPERATURE OF THE SEA OF JAPAN AND THE POSSIBILITIES OF ITS PROGNOSIS (Temperatura Vody Yaponskogo Morya i Vozmozhnost ee Prognoza),

Abstract

The main objective of the study is to present a comparative evaluation of thermal conditions in the Sea of Japan for a number of years. Therefore, the temperature data are systematized, reducing them to a definite date in clearly delimited areas with their typical water movements and temperature variations. In this connection, the pattern of vertical and horizontal distribution of water temperature by months, seasons, and years is established for various typical areas of the sea. Further, the anomalous temperature changes in the area, which create certain very severe or mild winters, and their effect on sardine fisheries in the sea are analyzed, so as to make possible a dependable forecasting and calculation of water temperature in the Sea of Japan.
