THE EFFECT OF VARIABLE SALINITY CONDITIONS ON THE BIVALVE MOLLUSK TEREDO NAVALIS L.,

Abstract

The study deals with the effect of salinity on the survival, rate of oxygen consumption, growth, maturing of sexual products and the development of larvae of Teredo navalis. The observations were carried out at the Black Sea station of the Institute of Oceanology of the Academy of Sciences of the SSSR during 1957-1959. The animals used for the tests were obtained in the areas of Novorossiysk, Gelendzhik, and Tuapse where the salinity of water equals 18 o/oo. (Author)
