THE CALCULATION OF MEAN GRADIENTS IN THE DISCONTINUITY LAYER (Vychislenie Srednikh Gradientov v Sloe Skachka),

Abstract

The two methods used in the calculation of mean gradients in the discontinuity layer are discussed in this paper. The first method is based on the mean curve of vertical distribution of gradients, whereas the second method is based on gradients at each hydrological station. The advantages of the second method are that it is possible to obtain accurate magnitudes of the mean gradients and a correct pattern of geographic distribution of the discontinuity layer. (Author)
