STRONTIUM-90 IN THE SURFACE WATER OF THE ATLANTIC OCEAN (Strontsii-90 v Poverkhnostnykh Vodakh Atlanticheskogo Okeana),

Abstract

The investigation of Sr90 in the surface water of the North Atlantic Ocean, which was conducted by the 'Mikhail Lomonosov' expedition in the autumn and winter period of 1959/1960, is briefly reviewed. Some of the general trends in the propagation of the element in various regions of the ocean are pointed out. Also the methods used in the investigation are analyzed and compared with some of the data obtained by American scientists for eastern areas of the U. S. A. and the adjacent water regions of the Atlantic Ocean. (Author)
