APPLICATION OF ULTRASONIC ENERGY TO THE EXTRUSION OF FLUOROCARBON-BASE PROPELLANT: FINAL REPORT. INDUSTRIAL PREPAREDNESS MEASURE FOR THE INDUSTRIAL RESOURCES DIVISION, ORD-047.

Abstract

The report reviews a project for the extrusion of fluorocarbon propellants by the application of ultrasonic energy to the extrusion die. The project showed that the ultrasonic method increased the extrusion rate and improved the product homogeneity. In addition, it is expected that surface finish will be improved and the extrusion of nonsymmetrical sections will be feasible on a full-scale application. (Author)
