MAGNETOSPHERE.

Abstract

Recent theoretical work, related to semi-idealized problems of the magnetosphere, carried out at Queen Mary College, University of London and the University of Sheffield is reported. The research outlined here concerns: - centrifugal effects of plasma flow round the magnetosphere: steady and unsteady dynamics of a two-dimensional model of the magnetosphere: Legendre polynomial expansion of the magnetic field of a ring current composed of spiralling trapped particles including non-linearity: the neutral sheet in the geomagnetic tail.
