EXPERIMENTAL DATA ON THE LIQUID-WATER CONTENT OF FRONTAL CLOUDS OVER THE STEPPE PORTION OF THE UKRAINE (Vodnost Frontalnykh Oblakov nad Stepnoi Chastyu Ukrainy po Eksperimentalnym Dannym),
Abstract
The paper contains an analysis of about 1700 liquid-water content measurements made in 1961-1963 during experimental flights through the cloud systems of atmospheric fronts over the steppe portion of the Ukraine. We study data on the liquid-water content, mean temperature, and thickness of different types of frontal clouds as well as data on the properties of liquid-water content distribution as a function of meteorological parameters. An empirical graph is given for computing the mean liquid-water content of Ns and Ns-As as a function of the mean temperature and thickness of the cloud. (Author)
