PROPERTIES OF NUCLEIC ACIDS IN RELATION TO BRAIN FUNCTION.

Abstract

The document contains publication reprints on the authors' research of testing certain aspects of a model of brain chemistry by concentrating on the following problem areas: Isolation, purification and characterization of brain RNA, including studies on its biosynthesis and turnover; Isolation, purification and characterization of the systems in brain responsible for the synthesis of its proteins, in particular the insoluble proteins of the synaptic membrane; Dynamics of this protein synthesis and its regulation both in vivo and in vitro. The publication titles are the following: Isolation and characterization of ribonucleic acid from cerebral cortex of rat; Protein synthesis systems from rat brain; Isolation and properties of polyribosomes from cerebral cortex; Resolution of insoluble proteins in rat brain subcellular franctions; Turnover of protein and ribonucleic acid in synaptic subcellular fractions from rat brain; In vitro RNA synthesis by intact rat brain nuclei.
