A POLYHEDRAL GALLACARBORANE.
Abstract
The gas-phase reaction of 2,3-dicarbahexaborane(8) with trimethylgallium at 215C produces a new compound characterized as 1-methyl-1-galla-2,3-dicarba-closo-heptaborane(7), in which a gallium atom is present in a polyhedral cage system. The identification and structural assignment is based on detailed mass spectroscopic analysis, boron-11 nmr, proton nmr, and infrared spectra. (Author)
