MUFFLE METHODS FOR DETERMINING FLAME RESISTANCE OF POLYMER AND OTHER MATERIALS,

Abstract

Flame resistance of synthetic and natural polymeric materials was examined in a muffle by increasing the temperature in the muffle by 50 degrees with each successive 0.5-g. sample if the preceding one of the same material did not inflame. After inflammation, the temperature was decreased by 30 degrees for the next sample. The temperatures of inflammation are tabulated for 24 different materials. (Author)
