TURBULENT FLOW IN WAVY PIPES.

Abstract

Turbulent flow over sinusoidal pipes with amplitude-wave-length ratios of 1/45 and 1/90 was studied. The scope of the investigation includes the following: (1) measurements of turbulent flow characteristics, total head and pressure head distributions, mean velocity profile, turbulence intensities distribution, Reynolds stress distribution, and variation of boundary shear stress; (2) the analytical result of predicting the mean velocity profile; and (3) the approach of finding an empirical formula for the local friction factor.
