THE STOCK POINT INVENTORY LEVELS MODEL (VOSL).

Abstract

The report is a description of the basic Navy VOSL (Variable Operating and Safety Level) Program. The program is used to set operating and safety level parameters for the retail item inventory model used at mechanized Navy stock points. The description is written in three sections. The first contains an overview of the policies and budget climate which motivate the program for retail inventory management. The second section explains in detail the input, output, and computational routines found in the program. The third section provides theoretical support for approximations and estimates used in the program along with derivation of important formulae. (Author)
