OPERATIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF TECHNIQUES FOR COMPUTING AIRPORT CAPACITY.

Abstract

In 1963 an Airport Capacity Handbook was prepared that has become a reference for airport capacity computations. For this present study new airport operating data was gathered to determine the extent of updating needed for the Handbook. The background and identification of the changes are summarized in the report. It was found that the mathematical models of the earlier study were still valid. A projection for increased capacity potential at busy major airports for the 'after 1975' time period is included based on foreseen control equipment developments. The basis is presented for a Handbook technique to compute practical annual capacity and annual delay. (Author)
