DETAILED PROCEDURES FOR THE DETERMINATION OF SEVERAL ELEMENTS BY NEUTRON ACTIVATION ANALYSIS,

Abstract

This report is a compilation of analytical procedures employed by this laboratory used in the determination of impurities in silicon by neutron activation analysis. As indicated, the various elements to be determined are placed together in groups. The choosing of the elements for any one given group is dependent on the elements to be determined for any given neutron activation analysis. Depending upon the size of sample available and the number of elements to be determined, one may employ the two following possibilities: From a suitable size sample of irradiated silicon, determine one element per piece of silicon (adaptable only to those cases where large sample size is available); If limited sample is available (usually the case), dissolve irradiated silicon together with the carriers of the elements to be determined.
