MEDIUM EFFECTS ON ACID-CATALYZED REACTIONS.

Abstract

This is a final report on a project which included studies medium effects on protonated activated complexes. The probing devices were reactions in which both ground state and activated complex contain a single proton. In the search for suitable systems to evaluate medium effects on protonated activated complexes, a number of other reactions were studied in considerable detail. These included hydration of styrenes, as well as hydrolysis of 1-aminosulfides, 1-aminoethers, iminium ions, and cyclic acetals. (Author)
