PROJECT MANAGEMENT. ENVIRONMENTAL CRITERIA,
Abstract
The importance of the environmental consideration in the design of equipment has increased steadily during the past several years. This is true for several reasons. First, as the complexity of our weapons is increased they become more and more susceptible to extremes of environment; secondly, flight characteristics have increased providing a new flight environment; and lastly, the advent of the pilotless aircraft and the need for a high degree of reliability in the equipment item. With these thoughts in mind the programs of the Environmental Criteria Branch have been directed to provide project engineers with the tools necessary to make realistic decisions in the application of environmental requirements and tests. The purpose of this report is to review environmental programs completed by the Environmental Criteria Branch during previous years and outline future programs. (Author)
