DISCRETE-TIME RENEWAL THEORY AND APPLICATIONS,

Abstract

The report is expository in nature and will present the discrete counterparts of the renewal continuous time renewal theory. By way of introducing the theory and for comparison purpose, a brief review of the continuous case is given first. Some examples are given at the end of the paper to illustrate the calculations. An example of White on automobile parts warranty program under the assumption of the Weibull life experience is solved by this method and the results compared favorably with those obtained by the much more difficult continuous method. The application of discrete-time renewal theory to other logistics and inventory problems are obvious.
