LASER OUTPUT COUPLER.

Abstract

This report describes theoretical and experimental work on a Fabry Perot displacement detector. Following a theoretical discussion of the resonator, its independence of length L, the use and response to several modes, and the dependence of sensitivity on reflectivities of the mirrors, an analysis of noise and modulation depth is given. The construction of the apparatus is described and experimental results showing a displacement detection sensitivity of 0.01 A are given. Suggested utilization for the apparatus described under this report includes the detailed measurements of mode patterns on transducers and broadband examination of a complex acoustic spectrum such as arises in acousto electric oscillators.
