APPLICATION OF SHERESHEFSKY'S EQUATION FOR THE DETERMINATION OF SOLID SURFACE DISPERSION ENERGY BY LIQUID PHASE ADSORPTION,

Abstract

A simple method for obtaining solid surface dispersion energies by measuring adsorption from solution and applying Shereshefsky's equation is presented. The method has been tested with experimental data from literature on the adsorption of stearic acid from benzene solution onto mercury, iron, copper, and nickel. Results compare favorably with those obtained by contact angle or by vapor phase adsorption measurements. (Author)
