PERCHLORATE ESTER: PREPARATION AND POLYMERIZATION

Abstract

Epiperchloratohydrin (I) was synthesized and polymerized; although covalent perchlorates are known to be hydrolytically unstable. Compound (I), dissolved in benzene could be rapidly washed with water without causing major hydrolysis. A simple method for dehydrating silver perchlorate by an azeotropic distillation was used. Compound (I) before and after polymerization was explosive and required special care.
