MICROANALYSIS AND PROBABILISTIC MODELLING OF A TIME-SHARED SYSTEM.

Abstract

A series of measurements was performed on a version of a Telcomp system operating on a DEC-PDP-1 computer. These measurements were designed to gain insight into the dynamic behavior of a time-shared system and to define and find the operating point of the system. In particular, efforts were made to find out what system parameter or combination of parameters was limiting system performance, and to formulate a dynamic model of the system which could be used to predict what would happen if the system parameters were changed. The report describes the static structure of the Telcomp system and presents a probabilistic model of its behavior. (Author)
