HOLOGRAPHIC INTERFEROMETRY - TECHNIQUES AND APPLICATIONS.

Abstract

Three applications of holographic interferometry are presented which are useful as design and inspection techniques for a wide variety of military hardware. Voids as small as one-quarter inch in diameter were detected in rubber-to-metal bonds by use of a heat-stressing technique. The contour and the amplitude of complex, acoustically excited vibrations of a metal panel and a cast iron cylinder, were also analyzed. In addition, the holographically measured deflection of a cantilever beam was compared with the theoretically predicted deflection. (Author)
