REMOTE INFRARED TEMPERATURE-MAPPING OF HIGH-PERFORMANCE WEAPONS.

Abstract

Infrared instrumentation and techniques were developed for the remote, noncontact, temperature measurement of high-performance weapons at elevated temperatures. The high-speed, remote, infrared mapping system developed and described in the report was utilized to map the longitudinal temperature distributions on the rotating barrels of a 7.62mm Minigun mock-up.
