THE URETHANE-ALCHOL REACTION.

Abstract

A brief summary is given of work involving the mechanism of the reaction between a urethane, such as phenyl N-phenylcarbamate, and an alcohol, such as n-octanol, in an inert solvent. The nature and role of various catalysts in lowering the activation energy of the rate-determining step was also considered.
