CALCULATION OF COMPRESSIBLE FLOWFIELDS ABOUT SHARP-NOSED SYMMETRIC AIRFOILS AT ZERO ANGLE OF ATTACK.

Abstract

A computer program was written for the calulation of compressible flows about sharp-nosed symmetric airfoils at zero angle of attack. Starting from an arbitrary initial guess of the flowfield, the time-dependent equations are numerically integrated using a two-step finite-difference scheme. Appropriate boundary conditions are maintained at the borders of the spatial field and the asymptotic, for large time, solution is taken to represent steady flow. An example is presented and plans to extend the method to treat blunt-nosed lifting airfoils are discussed. (Author)
