CONDENSATION AND NUCLEATION PROCESSES OF SINGLE CRYSTAL THIN FILMS.

Abstract

The purpose of this contract was to investigate the path probability technique for calculating rates of nucleation, to develop experimental techniques for growing thin films on amorphous substrates, and to make electrical measurements and electron microscopic examinations of the thin films. In the theoretical program, the path probability method was used to study the film growth process. In the experimental program a moving mask technique was used for film growth; this technique attempts film growth by starting with a few nuclei and suppressing further nucleation. (Author)
