ANTIGENICITY OF SAXITOXIN AND CONJUGATED PEPTIDES.
Abstract
The objectives of the research in this contract were: To study methods for producing antibodies of high neutralizing titer to paralytic shell fish poison (saxitoxin); and Similarly, to study the antigenicity of selected hypotensive peptides when either conjugated to a large molecular weight carrier or adsorbed to suspensions of plastic particles. The approach to the problem, the methods used, and a presentation of the results are included. It was found that saxitoxin and the peptides used were very poor antigens regardless of the treatment prior to immunization of rabbits. In fact, it was not possible to demonstrate production of antibodies to these compounds. (Author)
