LEARNER-CENTERED INSTRUCTION (LCI): VOLUME III. PLAN OF INSTRUCTION.

Abstract

A Plan of Instruction (POI) is presented for an experimental course to train flight line Weapon Control System Technicians for the F-111A Aircraft (AFSC 322X1R). The POI is based upon the job behavioral description of this technician's job, prepared earlier. The two basic decisions establishing the character of the POI are (1) The overall objective of the course is to produce graduates who are capable of performing at the 5 level of skill with virtually no on-the-job training, and (2) The mode of instruction is to be Learner-Centered. The POI, therefore, emphasizes development of behavior patterns required by the technician on the job, and calls for self-instructional materials that the student uses at his own pace. The instructor concentrates on assisting the individual student when he needs help. The 15-week course is divided into seven major blocks. Each block is divided into units and lessons, with learning objectives stated for each. (Author)
