DIFFUSIONAL PHENOMENA IN FLOWING POLYMER SOLUTIONS. II. EXPERIMENTS IN RESOLUTION DISPERSION IN GEL PERMEATION CHROMATOGRAPHY.

Abstract

A systems approach has been applied to the analysis of chromatogram dispersion, or zone broadening, in Gen Permeation Chromatography (G.P.C.). Three components of a Waters Associates Model 200 chromatograph, each of which is a potential cause of dispersion, were investigated experimentally; these are: the packed column, with extra-particle dispersion only; the empty tubing, between pump and columns, columns and detector, etc., and the detection system, vis., the differential refractometer cell.
