THE ENERGETICS PARAMETER AND SCALE EFFECT IN CAVITATION EROSION,

Abstract

An energetics parameter of cavitation erosion is introduced for estimating the resistance of materials to erosion. By means of this parameter the power dependence of scale numbers for dimensions and velocities is explained. It is noted that an erosion of uniform intensity should be observed in small models at a faster rate than in large models. Conditions are established for predicting the volume of erosion from experiments with models. (Author)
