POPULATION GROWTH AND INTERNAL MIGRATION IN COLOMBIA,

Abstract

The memorandum is concerned with the growth of population and the process of internal migration that is currently concentrating the population of Colombia in and around the cities. This demographic phenomenon has economic causes that must be understood and confronted directly if policy is to be effective in coping with the consequences. Virtually all problems of resource reallocation that are fundamental to the development process become more difficult and necessary under the burden of accelerating population growth. (Author)
