EARNING PROGRESSION DATA SHEETS EXPRESSED IN U.S. DOLLARS.

Abstract

Earnings Progression Data Sheets are one of the tools developed in conjunction with a new method of measuring work (known as the time-span of discretion technique). The Data Sheets are scaled in pounds sterling and the double conversion involved in plotting dollar earnings have tended to deter the growing number of persons in U. S. universities and industry interested in testing and applying these techniques from using the Data Sheet. The working paper is divided into three parts. The first part shows in detail how a wholly dollar-based Data Sheet was evolved; in the second part an Index of U.S. earned incomes is developed, covering the period 1947-1968; the final part contains detailed instructions for plotting individual earnings progressions corrected for changes in the Earnings Index.
