RF PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF SODIUM CONDUCTORS,

Abstract

This report presents test results of a program undertaken by the Naval Research Laboratory to evaluate the performance of sodium conductors used in HF antenna ground planes. The results are also applicable to VLF and LF antennas. This work was stimulated by the recent development of inexpensive sodium conductors for commercial power distribution. The objectives of the test program were to determine the suitability of using sodium conductors in the place of the more conventional copper conductors for large scale antenna ground plane installations used by the Navy.
