NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN MODULATED SCATTERING INSTRUMENTATION FOR MEASUREMENT OF NEAR-ZONE ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS.

Abstract

The investigation has the following objectives: (1) To provide in one document the highlights of various scattering techniques for measuring near-zone electromagnetic field distributions, (2) To investigate the feasibility of using a laser beam to modulate a photoconductive scattering element, (3) To extend the application of the modulated scattering technique to lower frequencies, (4) To explore possibilities for making the modulated scattering technique more useful in practice. Two of the more promising modulated scattering techniques are selected for experimental evaluation at frequencies other than X-band. These include the use of an audio diode modulated scatterer and a light modulated scatterer. (Author)
