Mathematical Fundamentals of Aerial Photo-Interpretation of Forests

Abstract

The present status of photo-interpretation of forests is discussed along with results of theoretical and experimental studies on use of mathematical modeling in investigating tree stands. The use of computers in forest management is feasible and requires starting information and the preparation of special maps bearing information essential for electronic computer operation. Mathematical modeling expands the theory of timber stand study and leads to new methods of measurement and determination of appraisal indexes concerning timber stands.
